Founder's Story

Thamar Sauveur-Baker
Chief Administrator & President

The vision for Vision For Haiti Foundation began when Thamar was just six or seven years old, living in Port-au-Prince. While riding a tap-tap through the city, she saw teenagers living on the streets — some with babies, many no older than 15 or 16. That day, she made a promise: "One day, I will build a home for kids like them."

Adopted and brought to the United States at age 15 — barely educated and speaking no English — Thamar graduated early with honors, driven by an unwavering dream to give back. From that point on, her focus remained clear: to build a foundation that supports vulnerable children in Haiti.

In July 2018, Vision For Haiti Foundation was officially born. Today, the foundation serves thousands of children across Haiti, with thousands more on the waiting list.
